About

Stephen Francis Carpentry & Joinery was established in May 2000 by Stephen Francis Dewar. Stephen is a time served carpenter and joiner with over 33 years experience in all aspects of the construction industry.

After leaving school, Stephen served his apprenticeship with Holly Construction Ltd. On completing all of his City and Guilds qualifications he went into full time further education and did a Higher National Diploma in Building Studies at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle.

After successfully completing the course he started working for Thomas Muckle & Sons (Builders) Ltd as a contract surveyor and then for Dorin Construction as a quantity surveyor.

Having worked in building management on many different types of building projects all over the British Isles, Stephen decided to put his knowledge and experience into his own venture and started his own carpentry and joinery business.

He now works hard to provide quality workmanship and a prompt service at competitive rates. Attention to detail is a priority using the best quality materials and up to date tools and equipment.

In 2006 Stephen became a member of the Institute of Carpenters and was awarded the MasterCarpenters Certificate in July 2006.

On the 12th November 2010 Stephen was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Carpenters.

He always tries to use timber from sustainable sources that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
